Polestar 2 Wiper Blade Replacement — DIY With Sizes and Procedure
Polestar 2 wiper blade sizes: 650 mm driver, 475 mm passenger, 305 mm rear. Bayonet-style attachment on front, side-pin on rear. Service position via the centre screen. Total DIY time: 10 minutes for all three.
When to replace
- Streaking on dry glass
- Squeaking even after washer fluid
- Visible cracks or hardened rubber edge
- Annually as preventative (UV breaks down rubber even with light use)
What to buy
OE-equivalent or upgrade options (any of these fit):- Bosch Aerotwin AR653S (driver 650 mm) + AR475S (passenger 475 mm) + A282H (rear 305 mm)
- Valeo Silencio (matching sizes)
- Michelin Stealth Hybrid (matching sizes)
- Polestar OEM wipers via authorised service centre
Consult dealer for current OE PN if you want exact match. The Bosch Aerotwins are widely available worldwide and match factory performance.
Tools
- New wipers (correctly-sized set of 3)
- Microfibre cloth
- Optional: rubbing alcohol for cleaning the windscreen pre-fit
Service position procedure
Don't try to lift the wipers when the car is fully off — they're tucked under the bonnet lip and you'll bend an arm. Use the service position:
- Sit in the driver's seat. Switch the car ON (don't put in Drive).
- Centre screen → Settings → Vehicle → Wipers → Service Position.
- The wipers will move to a vertical position clear of the bonnet lip.
- Switch the car OFF (the wipers stay in service position).
Now you can lift them safely.
Front wiper replacement (650 mm + 475 mm)
- Lift the wiper arm vertical from the windscreen.
- Hold the arm steady (don't let it snap back — it will crack the glass).
- Rotate the old wiper blade 90° to expose the bayonet clip.
- Bayonet detail: press the small plastic tab on the underside of the connector. Slide the blade off the arm.
- Take the new wiper. Slide it onto the arm in the same orientation. You'll feel/hear a click when it seats.
- Lower the arm carefully back to the windscreen.
- Repeat for passenger side (475 mm).
Rear wiper replacement (305 mm)
The rear wiper uses a different attachment — side-pin, not bayonet.
- Lift the rear wiper arm.
- Rotate the old blade so its side-pin clip faces you.
- Press the side-pin tab and slide the blade off.
- Slide the new blade on, opposite orientation.
- Lower the arm.
Exit service position
- Switch car ON.
- Settings → Vehicle → Wipers → Exit Service Position (or use the wiper stalk for one cycle).
- Wipers return to park position.
Test with washer fluid. Check for streaking. If streaking after install, the rubber may have transit kinks — wipe down with rubbing alcohol and try again.
Common mistakes
- Not using service position — bends the wiper arms.
- Letting the arm snap back to glass — cracks the windscreen.
- Wrong attachment style on rear (using bayonet wiper for side-pin attachment).
- Not pressing the bayonet tab fully — forces and cracks the connector.
- Mismatched sizes — Polestar 2 has specific sizes; universal-fit packs may work but quality varies.
